Oro Traditional Festival Holds In Imota Saturday As Council Boss Felicitates Monarch, Residents

The 2025 edition of the Oro Traditional Festival in the ancient kingdom of Imota holds tomorrow, Saturday, August 30.

The Executive Chairman, Imota Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele (BSA), made the announcement today to the members of the public while also felicitating the Ranodu of Imota, HRM, Oba (Dr.) Mudashiru Ajibade Bakare-Agoro and traditional chiefs and residents of the town on the occasion of the festival.

In accordance with traditions, the Chairman stated that the traditional festival will commence 12:00 midnight when women folks are expected to restrict themselves indoors till 6:00 am on Sunday when necessary rites will have been concluded.

“I heartily felicitate with HRM, Oba (Dr.) Mudashiru Ajibade Bakare-Agoro, the Ranodu of Imota, Olufoworesete II, as well as the respected chiefs of Liworu and Logunmogbo on the occasion of this year’s annual celebration of the 2025 Oro Traditional Festival.

“The Oro Festival is a significant traditional celebration that emphasizes spiritual purification and renewal, cultural preservation, social cohesion, and promoting community unity, among others.

“As we celebrate this important traditional festival in our beloved community, I urge all residents of Imota LCDA to exercise caution, remain law-abiding, and adhere strictly to the directive associated with the Oro rite.

“The Oro traditional festival is scheduled for Saturday, August 30th, 2025, commencing at 12:00 am on Friday night until 6:00 am on Sunday morning. Women are strongly advised to refrain from unnecessary movement within the Imota Community during these stipulated hours and are encouraged to stay indoors.
