It was the 17th year anniversary of the late political leader in Ikorodu Division and former Chairman, Ikorodu Local Government, Alhaji Muhammad Muftau Adekoya Ayinde Adejuwon Ajisebutu on Monday, with a concerned resident calling for his immortalization.

Olawale Owodeinde, commenting on a tribute by the late political leader’s family on Facebook, called on the present council boss, Prince Adedayo Ladega, and other leaders in Ikorodu, to honour the late politician for his dedication to development of his community, leadership and service to the people.

He called for a major road to be named after him.

“In honor of the late Alhaji Mufutau Adekoya Ajisebutu, a foremost political leader in Ikorodu and Lagos State. His dedication to community development, leadership, and service to the people of Ikorodu and beyond left an indelible mark. His legacy continues to inspire and shape the political and social landscape of the region.

“May Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him the best of Paradise.

“I humbly suggest that current leaders at the helm of affairs in Ikorodu immortalize him by at least naming a street or road in his name, as a testament to his enduring impact.

The late Muftau Ajisebutu played key political roles in the second, third and fourth republic and was the undisputed political leader in Ikorodu between 1999 and early 2000, when he had face- off with President Bola Tinubu, and both went their separate ways. The dispute forced Ajibebutu to abandon the ruling party in the state and crossed to the main opposition party.

As the Chairman, Ajisebutu contributed to the socio – economic and political developments of Ikorodu and he was the one responsible for securing the large expanse of land on which the Ikorodu LG secretariat was built and also gave Ikorodu the monument that is today the council secretariat.

During his days, Ajisebutu popularly called ‘Ewuwu’ was in total control. He determined who gets what gave Ikorodu relevance at the state level. He was revered, feared and respected.

He also contributed to the building of the SABO Market in Ikorodu by facilitating the donation of the land from his family.
