The Ayangbure Palace in Ikorodu last week played host to large numbers of eminent personalities, guests and residents as HRM Alayeluwa (Oba) Dr. Kabir Adewale Shotobi, Ilufemiloba, Adegorusen V, Ayangburen of Ikorodu Kingdom, installed the Ajiroba of Ikorodu, Alhaji (Chief) Jamiu Ogidi as the Olootu Ebi Solomade of Ikorodu.
Eight others were also installed on Thursday, as the honorary chiefs, joined Chief (Dr.) Mujeedat Folashade Tinubu – Ojo, who was during the week installed as Aniyikaye of Ikorodu Kingdom, she was installed on Wednesday.

Those installed on Thursday include Mr John James Omobowale Olomo, Ba’seto Ipadabosile of Ikorodu Kingdom, Mr Femi Adebayo Olukotun, Olumeto of Ikorodu Kingdom, Mrs Olusola Femi – Olukotun, Yeye Olumeto of Ikorodu Kingdom, Alhaji Ishola Sunmoni, Fiwagbuyi of Ikorodu Kingdom, Alhaja Shakirat Oluwatoyin Sunmoni, Yeye Fiwagbuyi of Ikorodu Kingdom, Mr Isaac Kolawole Adeleye, Ogbeni Oja of Ikorodu Kingdom and Mrs Foluke Adeleye, Otun Yeye Ogbeni Oja of Ikorodu Kingdom.

Sir (Otunba) Ayodele Elesho, KJW., the Agbaakin of Ikorodu Kingdom, guiding the large audience at the palace on the significance of the installation of eminent sons and daughters of Ikorodu, said that they were picked after careful scrutiny as honorary chiefs as part of activities commemorating the 10th anniversary of Oba Shotobi.
“It’s been 10 years of coronation anniversary of our monarch, and it calls for celebration and thanksgiving. We’re meant to thank God for the blessings He has done for our royal father and his families, who are in great and sound health.

“For today, and as part of the celebration, our revered monarch deemed it fit to mark the celebration to some of the eminent ones that have been helping and assisting his kingdom. These are the ones that Kabiyesi is installing today as chiefs which makes them feel special as his Oloyes (Chiefs).”
Otunba Elesho explained the criteria used in selecting the honorees for the exalted positions in the kingdom.
“Our royal father has looked at all the honorees and see that they’re capable. I want to state that they were not just picked, rather, Kabiyesi looked at their track records and also engaged necessary authorities about them and also to find out about their records. He investigated and made sure that all of them that are being installed are of good standard, capable and clean.

“So, with this, I urge everyone of us to come together and support our Ayangbure because we don’t know who’s next tomorrow. People ae taking note of all that we are doing today and these are what will count for us in the future.The highlight: the King, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi Ilufemiloba, Adegorusen V, Ayangburen of Ikorodu Kingdom, performed the capping of the New chiefs with royal blessings. The New chiefs, families, and friends offered “owo origba”. Certificates were presented, followed by homage by the council of honorary titled chiefs.
In his royal remarks, Oba Shotobi thanked his royal colleagues that were in attendance for their presence and support.

The royal father also expressed his appreciation at the massive support from different quarters and residents of Ikorodu for his 10th anniversary celebration.
The installation ended with the new chiefs dancing to the traditional Gbedu Drum with guests also treated to good foods and drinks.
At the installation ceremony were royal fathers and other eminent personalities including Odofin Adewunmi Ogunsanya, the Odofin of Ikorodu, Asiwalju Kaoli Olusanya, Asipa of Ikorodu, Otunba Ayodele Elesho, the Agbaakin of Ikorodu, Alhaji Monzor Olowoshago, Publisher, Oriwu Sun and the Baroyin of Ikorodu, Chief Segun Erewa ad Hon. (Dr.) Abike Dabiri – Erewa among others.
