Another colourful feather was added to the well – feathered cap of the Iyaloja – General of Nigeria, Chief (Mrs) Dr. Mujeedat Folashade Tinubu -Ojo as she was honoured with an honorary chieftaincy title by His Royal Majesty (Oba) Dr. Kabir Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu as part of the activities commemorating the royal father ‘s 10th coronation anniversary.
Chief Tinubu – Ojo was installed as the Aniyikaye of Ikorodu Kingdom at a well – attended Market Women & Men/Artisan/Transporters Day of the coronation anniversary celebration held at the Ayangbure Palace on Wednesday.
The event, attended by traditional rulers, dignitaries, market leaders, and residents featured a colourful blend of tradition, music, dance, and other activities.
She was honoured for her contributions to market development and grassroots empowerment; leadership and unwavering commitment to uplifting the lives of market men and women nationwide.
Chief (Mrs) Tinubu -Ojo in her acceptance remarks expressed deep gratitude for the title and reaffirmed her dedication to grassroots economic development, women empowerment, and youth inclusion.
The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Prince Abdulateef Adedayo Ladega, who chaired the ceremony congratulated the Ayangbure of Ikorodu on his coronation anniversary and also the new chieftaincy holder, Chief (Mrs) Tinubu – Ojo on her installation as Aniyikaye of Ikorodu Kingdom.
The Iyaloja General of Ikorodu Division, Deaconess (Chief) Mrs Busola Elizabeth Isikalu, congratulating the Kabiyesi on the anniversary of his ascension to the throne and the new chieftaincy holder, described the ceremony as a momentous one:
“Today, we gather not just to celebrate, but to witness the conferment of a prestigious title on a distinguished Nigerian, Chief (Dr) Mujeedat Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, as the ANIYIKAYE of Ikorodu Kingdom.
“This event is made even more special as it coincides with the glorious 10th Coronation Anniversary of our revered Royal Majesty, Oba (Engr.) AbdulKabir Adewale Shotobi, Adegorushen V, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu.”
She highlighted some of the contributions of the Iyaloja General to the development of markets, women, youths and others across the country, adding that she has continued to inspire market men and women with her leadership.
“Chief (Dr) Mujeedat Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, the Iyaloja General of Nigeria, has made contributions to society across the markets, women & men groups, but particularly in uplifting the lives of the less privileged.
“As the Iyaloja General of Nigeria, you have demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities and a deep sense of understanding of the needs of the market community.
“Our amiable Mother and Leader, we are confident that you will continue to shine as a beacon of hope and inspiration for the upcoming generations,” she said.
Chief Isikalu also acknowledged the impacts and contributions of Oba Shotobi since ten years ago.
“Your Royal Majesty, your reign has brought peace, progress, and prosperity to Ikorodu.
“Your visionary leadership, dedication to the welfare of your people, and commitment to preserving our rich cultural heritage are highly revered,”she said.
“After thanking guests, the Iyaloja General of Ikorodu Division, also commended market women and men for their loyalty and support for the Kabiyesi.
She called for continuous support and the maintenance of unity in the division.
“To the market women and men of Ikorodu Division, I salute your resilience, hard work, and unwavering loyalty and support to our highly revered Kabiyesi and Ikorodu Kingdom. May your businesses continue to flourish, and your homes will be filled with peace and prosperity.
“Today is another milestone day in the history of Market administration in Ikorodu Division. Consequently, let us remember the importance of unity, progress, and service to humanity.”
At the installation were His Royal Majesties Oba Seiudeen Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Oba Moroof Oyekunle Tijani, Oluwa of Apapa, Oba Aderibgbe Asunmo, Odo Ayandelu Kingdom, and Oba David Olukayode Raji, Jpil, Eweye of Isiu among others.
The crowd at the ceremony were treated to a series of cultural displays including traditional Gbedu drum performances, dances, and the presentation of certificates.
