Dr. Olumide Olusola Metilelu, an Associate Professor of Tourism and Hospitality, at the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) has been awarded the prestigious research grant from the Lagos State Research and Innovation Council (LASRIC) for the year 2025.
The grant was designed by the government to advance scientific innovations in Lagos State.
Metilelu, who is at present a commissioner in the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) representing Ikorodu Division, received the grant along with four others.

With the grant, Dr. Metilelu will lead the development of a smart multimodal travel card, a groundbreaking platform and the first of its kind in West Africa. This innovative project aims to simplify tourist mobility and enhance the overall travel experience for visitors to Lagos, Nigeria.
The grant award ceremony was attended by key officials of LASIEC and LASUSTECH among whom were Dr. Samuel Omogoye, Acting Director, of DRID, Hon. Justice Mobolanle Abidemi Okikiolu-Ighile, Chairman, Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, and Prof. Olumuyiwa Odusanya, Vice-Chancellor of LASUSTECH and Chairman of LASRIC among many other dignitaries.

Meanwhile, the management of LASUSTECH has extended its heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Metilelu and wishes him great success in this important research task.
