We are hopeful that it’s going to be more fruitful. We are hopeful that it’s going to be more impactful. We are hopeful that we will connect more to the people and the people will be proud of the decision they made on the 12th of July by voting us into office,” she said.

We will work in good cooperation with the executive arm headed by the chairman, Honourable Sulaimon Kazeem Olarenwaju. We are going to give him our full support. We are going to lobby the executive arm to bring projects to our various communities according to our needs. So, our people should be hopeful,” she assured.

Hon. Sulaimon Olanrewaju, who was also inaugurated two days ago for another term by the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo -Olu, described the proclamation of the House as the beginning of a new journey for good and inclusive governance.

“Today represents the beauty and strength of democracy at the grassroots — the level of governance that is closest to the people. It marks the beginning of a new chapter in our collective journey towards a better, more inclusive, and more progressive Ikorodu West.

While congratulating the new Councillors, he also charged them to see their election as a clarion call to serve and deliver good governance to the people.

He assured the local legislators that his administration will work in cooperation with them to ensure that good governance is delivered.

“Let me start by congratulating all the newly sworn-in Honourable Councillors on your well-deserved electoral victories. You are not just representatives of your wards — you are now custodians of public trust. You have been chosen by the people to be their voice, their bridge to government, and their defenders of community interest.

This is not a call to comfort — it is a call to service. A call to sacrifice. A call to integrity. A call to put people over politics, and development above division.

As the Executive Chairman, I want to assure you of my administration’s full commitment to working hand-in-hand with this new legislative arm. The synergy between the executive and legislature is critical to delivering impactful governance. Our vision for Ikorodu West — one of infrastructure renewal, economic empowerment, quality education, security, youth development, and healthcare access — cannot be achieved in isolation.

Let us remember: the expectations of our people are high. And rightly so. We must not let them down. They are not interested in party politics or political differences — they want results, they want progress, they want responsive governance.

We must work together, with mutual respect, openness, and a shared desire to leave Ikorodu West better than we met it.”
