The Chairman, Imota Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele, has revealed that the new administration will promote principles of collectivity, unity and cooperation to achieve progress and development in the council.

He called on stakeholders and the generality of residents to support the administration, while also assuring stakeholders of inclusiveness, transparency, accountability, excellent goal-driven governance, and progressive leadership.

Hon. Benson Ayodele revealed the cardinal principles of governance that residents of Imota LCDA should expect from his administration in the next four years at the Proclamation of the 6th Imota LCDA’s Legislative House, held at the council secretariat.

“I will like to open my inaugural speech by drawing an inspiration from one of West African Yoruba proverbs which says, “Àgbájo owó la fi n sòyà, àjèjì owó kan kò gbé erù dé orí,” which means, “only in unity we find strength” and I can by extension give it a traditional interpretation that “we can beat the chest with the combination of hands, a single hand cannot lift a heavy load and put it on one’s head.” It is from this background that I derived a coinage aptly tagged: Itesiwaju Imota LCDA, Ajumoseni ooo” that translates to “The development of Imota LCDA is a collective work.”

“These two foundational principles will guide the Benson Sunday Ayodele and Bisoye Omowunmi Jimoh administration in promoting true progress and growth for Imota Local Council Development Area through collective dealings all through our administration.

The chairman elaborated, “I firmly believe that our development relies on togetherness, with a strong emphasis on inclusiveness, transparency, accountability, excellent goal-driven governance, and progressive leadership to achieve the Imota LCDA of our dreams.”

While stating challenges before the new administration, the council boss also assured stakeholders that they are embarking on the journey with renewed hope and vigour to deliver dividends of democracy.

“It is no longer news that we face significant challenges as our people’s expectations are high, I therefore admonish all the people of Imota LCDA not to indulge in excuses for not taking part in our development plans but rather to consolidate the efforts and good legacy of our predecessors and the founding fathers of this great local council area and ensure that the sacrifices of our heroes past will not be in vain.

“No doubt, we have numerous tasks ahead to accomplish in our plans to create an enabling environment that will enhance our Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), security, empowerment, inclusiveness, infrastructure development, and many others. All the aforementioned are aimed at fostering comprehensive development across every corner of our beloved Imota LCDA.

“I want to assure you that we are starting this journey strong with renewed hope and energy, we are committed to building impactful bridges, strengthen community development and work in unity as valued partners with all government agencies, relevant stakeholders, and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to promote good governance and bring back the pride and respect Imota LCDA deserves,” he assured.

“To ensure that the council is placed among the best, the council chairman said that the new administration would embark on developmental projects and people’s driven programmes.

“We must ensure that our LCDA holds a reputation and valid relevant position among the 57 LGAs/LCDAs in Lagos State and Nigeria at large. No doubt, prioritizing our community’s interests will always come first in our plans in this new administration. We will initiate different grassroots developmental plans, organise people-oriented programmes, and facilitate legacy projects aimed at benefiting all residents in achieving a prosperous socio-cultural, economic, and politically developed community across Imota LCDA.

“The needs and aspirations of the people of Imota LCDA will guide our actions and efforts which will be geared to meet their expectations. You can rest assured that we will strive to develop an Imota LCDA that our children and future generations will be proud to call their own today, tomorrow, and forever.

“Unarguably, today’s inauguration ceremony marks a rebirth of a new dawn. It signifies our readiness to foster development in good governance, impactful projects, and promote youth and women’s engagement across all four wards in the LCDA. This is a clarion call of a new wave of community development and progressive change, aiming to command the respect of everyone in Imota LCDA and beyond.”
