The Chairman, Ikorodu Local Government, Prince Abayomi Adedayo Ladega and his Vice, Hon. Babawale Alogba, on Monday assumed their duties at the council secretariat with tour of offices and familiarization with council staff.
During the tour, they had strategic meetings with the Council Manager and other strategic officials and in some cases listened to members of staff and reassured them of good working environment.
The council administrators also visited the new legislative building, Skye Bank and other facilities within the secretariat’s premises.

The Vice Chairman, Alogba wh spoke on behalf of the Executice Chairman said that their arrival at the council secretariat and tour of offices and facilities signalled their official resumption at work after their swearing – in on Sunday by the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo – Olu.
“We assumed office today to meet the management of Ikorodu Local Government and all other members and parties involved in the administration of Ikorodu Local Government, both those in civil service and the non-civil servants of the local government. That’s why we are here today.

“As Chairman mentioned during the campaign, we have series of plans for education. We will do necessary and required enhancement in our schools so that, and if possible, solar power where necessary will be deployed, and where we need to increase staff, we will do so. And, where we need to provide computers to improve on our computer – based education, we will not hesitate so that we can prepare our pupils for computer – based examinations and so that Ikorodu can be one of the best not just within Lagos State but Nigeria at large.
“We are also focusing on security, and as you can see, we really emphasised on it. We sat with the CM and we had series of discussions with him and security officials. We also had meetings regarding sports development as well as market.The Chairman has discussed about markets that require upgrading and those needing renovations.

“For health, the Chairman has discussed facilities needing upgrading and also where staff needed to be increased and also, we plan to improve on the welfare of management and staff of our Primary Health Centres amongst others. Those are the plans that we have.
“We want to bring Ikorodu to the world. That’s what my chairman wants to do. I know him. He’s an action man.”
Commenting on findings during the tour, Hon. Alogba commended the immediate past administration and added that the new one will pick up from where the previous one stopped.

“The immediate past Chairma has done well. He has tried his best, and we’ll just pick it up from where he has ended it. Government is a continuum and it’s on that basis that my chairman will pick it up from there.”
He reassured residents of Ikorodu that the new administration wants to do the greatest good in terms of development and sought their cooperation and support.
