The Ranodu of Imota, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Mudashiru Ajibade Bakare Agoro, FCA, has declared that the Obaship throne that he has been sitting on in the last 32 years is an honour from God.
The highly revered and feared monarch, also made it known that everything that Imota has been able to accomplish and which can be referred to as pride of every Imota son and daughter, came into being during his reign.
Oba Agoro spoke during the commissioning of the Accident & Emergency, General Out- Patient Department (GOPD) and Eye Clinic at the General Hospital, Imota, during the week.

The monarch, who has been referred to as the architect and father of modern day Imota, was instrumental to the efforts of making Imota a local government, but now one of the five Local Council Development Areas(LCDAs) carved out of Ikorodu Local Government, also played a pivotal role in the establishment of General Hospital, Imota, while Imota has also been witnessing tremendous expansion, from a few quarters to many, and the town has extended far more in the last ten years than it was in the last 50 years or even more.

During Oba Agoro’s reign, Imota Rice Mill, the largest in Africa was established, as well as Asphalt factory, Mile 12 Commodities Market permanent site (still in progress), tarring of major roads, establishment of hotels, relaxation centres, expansion of existing schools and establishment of new ones, establishment of CALEB University by a son of Imota and the election of Imota sons and daughters into prominent political and other positions, many of which also had his inputs.

Ranodu, speaking at the commissioning attended by Chairman, Lagos State Health Service Commission, Dr (Mrs) Atinuke Onayiga, Permanent Secretary (PS), Lagos State Health Service Commission, Dr. Benjamin Eniayewun, Commissioner 2, Health Service Commission, Dr Mobolaji Olukoya, Dr (Mrs) Olalade Fadipe, Commissioner 4, Dr Taiwo Hassan, MD/CEO, General Hospital, Ikorodu, Dr Aletan, MD/CEO, General Hospital, Agbowa, Dr. Adenike Omosun, Medical Director/Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO), General Hospital Imota, Alhaji Monzor Olowosago, Publisher, Oriwu Sun, and Princess Abisoye Jimoh, Vice Chairman – elect, Imota LCDA among others, said:

“God has used this throne to honor me.
“Without being immodest, everything that Imota can lay claim today and be proud of as a known community, came into being during my reign.
“One of them is this General Hospital. Imota also has the largest rice mill in the whole of Africa and the third largest in the whole world. All these happened when I mounted this throne”.

While offering his royal blessings to everyone involved in all the developments in Imota, Oba Agoro also hinted of further expansion of General Hospital in his domain and also revealed that he intends to get three departments of the proposed teaching hospital in Ikorodu Division.
“For your information, someone has also donated an orthopedic department, and land has been allotted for its construction within this premises.
“Very soon, we will have a teaching hospital in Ikorodu Division, and I want three departments in Imota, of which orthopedics is one.

“By the grace of Almighty, by the time that all the projects earmarked for this place are completed, General Hospital, Imota, will be the second largest around here.
“We still have about five acres at the back, and we are ready to accommodate any structure. We are ready because we have been waiting for over 40 years”, the royal father said.
