2025 Council Polls: Ikorodu LG, Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA Lead Other Councils In Divisional Ratings As APC Secure 100% Win

It was massive electoral success for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) across the one Local Government and five Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the Ikorodu Division of Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria, as the party recorded 100% successful performance in both electoral levels in the Saturday, July 12 Council polls.

The six Chairmanship and 30 Councillorship candidates fielded by the party across the six councils were returned after the polls, with votes unprecedented in the annals of Ikorodu Local Government’s council elections.

The six declared Chairmen and Vice Chairmen– elect – Prince Adedayo Ladega and Hon. Babawale Bisiriyu Alogba, Ikorodu Local Government, Hon Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju and Hon. Adesegun Aluko, Ikorodu West LCDA, Hon. Ameen Olawale Ibrahim Apanisile and Hon. Matthew Aliu Adesanya, Ikorodu North LCDA, Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun (HOA) and Barr. Ade Ayeni, Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo – Alogba and Hon. Kabir Femi Kareem, Ijede LCDA and Hon. Sunday Benson and Princess Abisoye Oredoyin Jimoh, Imota LCDA, polled a total of 106, 074 votes across their councils.

In Ikorodu LG, where APC fielded Prince Adedayo Ladega and Hon. Babawale Alogba, as its Chairmanship and Vice Chairmanship candidates, the party polled 38,946 votes as declared by the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission’s Returning Officer, Alhaji Yekinni Aregbesola.

The party coasted home to victory with the seven Councillorship seats across the seven wards.

With almost 40, 000 votes recorded, Ikorodu LG did not only prove its dominance, but also emphasised its base as the headquarters for Ikorodu Divisional politics.

The outgoing Chairman, Ikorodu LG, Hon. Wasiu Adeshina scored 4, 729 votes in the last four years to be re – elected for the second term.

In the second place with 15, 015 votes is Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, where APC fielded Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun (HOA) and Barr. Ade Ayeni as its flag bearers.

The team secured 15, 015 votes in the 2025 LG elections which was a great improvement on the votes scored by the incumbent, Builder Sesan Daini in 2021, which was 2,814 votes.

Ikorodu North LCDA Chairman and Vice Chairman – elect, Hon. Ameen Apanisile and Hon. Matthew Adesanya polled 13, 844 votes to secure a decisive victory against the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and labour Party candidates.

The votes placed Ikorodu North LCDA in the third position.

In the fourth position is Imota LCDA, where the duo of Hon. Sunday Benson and his Vice Chairman – elect secured 13, 539 votes to prove their electoral values.

Hon. Sulaimon Olanrewaju and his Vice Chairman – elect, Hon. Adesegun Aluko garnered 12, 772 votes to secure their re – election and place fifth in the Divisional ranking.

The only female Chairman in the Division, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo – Alogba and his Vice Chairman – elect, Hon. Femi Kabir, who were also re – elected polled 11, 958 votes to secure the sixth

APC also secured the maximum Councillorship positions across the Division – Ikorodu LG: 7 seats, Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA: 5 seats, Ikorodu North LCDA: 5 seats, Imota LCDA: 4 seats, Ikorodu West LCDA: 5 seats and Ijede LCDA: 4 seats.
