The Vice Chairman, Ikorodu Local Government, Aarebirin (Dr.) Folashade Olabanji -Oba, has acknowledged that a lot of progress has been made towards gender equality, but also added that there is still so much to be done in emancipation of women.
Dr. Olabanji -Oba stated in a statement commemorating the International Women’s Day today, while also acknowledging the strength, resilience and determination of women.
This year’s celebration is themed, ‘Accelerate Action,’.
Princess Folashade Oba is the only woman among several other men aspiring to be the Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government in the forthcoming council elections.

“Today, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and determination of women all around the world. As we commemorate this special day, I, Folashade Florence Grace Olabanji-Oba , APC Executive Chairman Hopeful of Ikorodu Local Government, salute our women and girls of Ikorodu and beyond.
“I acknowledge the progress made towards gender equality, and also recognize that there is still much work to be done. As a woman in politics globally, I am committed to championing the cause of women’s empowerment and inclusivity in our communities”, she said.
Highlighting her agenda for Ikorodu LG if elected, she said her administration would prioritise access for women and girls to opportunities.

“My vision for Ikorodu Local Government is one where women and girls have equal access to opportunities, resources, and decision-making positions. I pledge to work tirelessly to promote gender equality, challenge discriminatory practices, and support initiatives that uplift and celebrate women and girls.
“To all the women in the world all over, we see you, we hear you, and we believe in you.
“And to all to our simply the Best He For She Men, we celebrate you as well. We are forever grateful and thankful to you.
“We love you all endlessly.
