Shams-El-Deen Grammar School Alumni Association Unveils Fourth Revised Constitution

The Shams-El-Deen Grammar School Alumni Association has unveiled its revised constitution, marking a significant step towards enhancing the structure and operational efficiency of the Association.

The SGS alumni association at present has 32 active class sets.

The new document which is the fourth revised edition was adopted at its last Annual General Meeting (AGM) held recently at the school premises, introduced delineation of the administrative structure, allocating executive control to the Central Working Committee (CWC), led by the President.

Another important feature also established to complement the existing structure is Community of Practice (CoP) aiming to foster specialized networks within the alumni community, encouraging collaboration, knowledge sharing, and professional development.

The four new SGS Alumni COPs are – SGS Alumni in Diaspora, SGS Alumni Citizen Developers, SGS Alumni Like Minds for Tourism and SGS Alumni Healthcare Practitioners.

Speaking on the governance/administrative structure, Amodu Taofeek Olorunjedalo, the SGS Publicity Secretary, informed THE IMPACT that the new constitution allocates executive control to the Central Working Committee (CEC).

Meanwhile, legislative power is vested in the Central Working Committee (CWC), headed by the Speaker. This bifurcated approach ensures a balanced and efficient administration, promoting transparency and accountability within the Association.”

Also speaking on the innovative ideas by the CEC, Amodu said the CEC under the leadership of Engr. IDOWU Hamed Ademayowa, has introduced several initiatives that has enhanced the operation of the alumni association:

“Under the visionary leadership of Engr. IDOWU Hamed Ademayowa, the Central Executive Committee (CEC) has embarked on a series of innovative initiatives to modernize and streamline the Association’s operations.

Key initiatives are the introduction of Automated Receipt System which aids seamless and efficient process for generating and managing receipts, Automated Certificate of Attendance which enables members to easily obtain certificates for attending the SGS Alumni Conference 2024 and Automated Membership and Financial Application which simplify the membership process thereby enhancing financial management through automation.”

Other innovations are Development of SGS Alumni Website with the launch of active website to serve as a central hub for information, updates, and member engagement, Development of SGS Alumni SharePoint Site by creating a collaborative platform for members to share resources, documents, and engage in discussions.

According to the Publicity Secretary, “These applications were meticulously developed internally by the SGS Alumni Citizen Developers, one of the newly established COPs, showcasing the talent and dedication of the alumni community.

Further assuring its members of the association’s commitment, he said:

“The Shams-El-Deen Grammar School Alumni Association remains committed to fostering a vibrant and engaged alumni community. The revised constitution and the initiatives brought forth by the CEC demonstrate the Association’s dedication to innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.”

In another development, SGS Alumni Likeminds for Tourism, recently embarked on tour of Olumo Rock in Abeokuta, where members explore the historic centre.
