COVID-19 – Igbogbo/Bayeku Authority, Police Seal Off New Covenant Church For Violation Of Gathering Rule

The Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) today, Sunday, May 3, 2020, sealed off the New Covenant Church located at Aridegbe Street in Adegbose area of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Lagos Southwest, Nigeria, for violating the government’s directive on COVID-19 regarding social gathering.

THE IMPACT gathered that the council authority stormed the church premises around 11.30am with police from the Ipakodo Police Station, based on information received from a whistleblower.

It was gathered that the Church has been engaging in its usual Sunday service and vigil despite government’s directive against religious gathering as part of measures to combat the spread of the deadly Coronavirus.

Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA has been the only council in Ikorodu Division to enforce the government’s directive against social gathering since the outbreak of the COVID – 19 pandemic as several hotels, bars and religious centres have been sealed off for violating the directive while that violated government’s directive while there owners and managers were arrested in some cases.
