We Shall Prevail Over Coronavirus, Hon Benson Assures Constituents

Hon. Babajimi Benson, member, House of Representatives representing the Ikorodu Federal Constituency.

The member of the House of Representatives, representing the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Hon Babajimi Adegoke Benson has assured Lagosians, especially his constituents in Ikorodu Division that the country shall overcome Coronavirus currently ravaging the country and the entire world.

While also commending the state government for its response so far, the two-term federal lawmaker also enjoined residents of the state to strictly follow necessary guidelines as stipulated by the government in combating the disease.

 Hon. Benson stated this in an address released late Tuesday (yesterday) night to enlighten the constituents on stringent measures introduced by the Lagos State Government in containing the spread of the disease.

 “In the past few weeks, we have witnessed a dangerous increase in the spread of COVID-19, also known as Corona Virus, all over the world”, he stated in the statement.

 “This increase has now gotten to a pandemic level. Prior to this time, many assumed that it was a foreign phenomenon we are immuned against. The current reality, however, is that it has landed on our shores with more people testing positive to the virus in Nigeria.

 “Just as we are all worried about this devastating development that is threatening our collective existence, I want to assure the good people of Ikorodu Federal Constituency that we shall overcome this difficult time’, Hon. Benson assured constituents.

 While acknowledging the efforts of the state government under the incident manager, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Hon. Benson enjoined residents to adhere strictly to warnings and directives of the government.

He also asked them to wash their hands regularly and maintain certain level of distance when engaging with other people.

“The government at all levels are doing everything and in constant collaboration with international and local health agencies, to ensure the eradication of this apparent danger.

 “Thorough washing of hands with soap and use of alcohol based sanitizers as well as Social distancing have been advised as effective means of ending the spread.

 “I humbly appeal to everyone to adhere strictly to all guidelines and health protocols being issued by the government and medical experts.

 “Every measure is necessary at this time to end this scourge. Non-essential travel and meetings should be put on hold”.

 Hon. Benson also charged anyone that feels sick to seek urgent medical attention and that whenever there is any suspicious case of Coronavirus such should be reported to National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

“Furthermore, I appeal to persons who feel sick to visit the hospital immediately and anyone who is suspected of having symptoms of the virus be reported to the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) through the dedicated lines in circulation”, he stated.

 “I want to commend the State Government ably led by the Incident Commander, Mr Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, our Local Government Chairmen, Traditional institutions and various religious groups in Ikorodu division for the continuous sensitization whilst looking forward to full compliance by EVERYONE.

 “Finally, we need to help enlighten those who are still living in denial of the apparent danger at hand and the need for us to work together to end the spread of the virus by adhering to the rules.

 “Once again, I assure you of my support and the sincere efforts of all our government at putting an end to this virus in our country.
