Hon. SOB Agunbiade, the Majority Leader, Lagos State House of Assembly and the representative of the Ikorodu Constituency 1

The Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly and the representative of the Ikorodu Constituency I, Hon. SOB Agunbiade, has declared that he believe that the present governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr kadri Hamzat, are on the right path of taking Lagos State to greater height.

The four-term lawmaker stated this in a release signed personally by him, a copy of which was sent to THE IMPACT yesterday.

In the release, Hon. Agunbiade stated that he has presented the yearnings of his people in Ikorodu division to the Executive arm which, according to him, has demonstrated listening attitude and has promised to attend to some of the infrastructural challenges facing the division, especially the dilapidated state of roads.

He added that aside writing in this respect to the executive arm, he has also paid a working visit to the Deputy Governor, who is incharge of Works and Infrastructures in the state, to discuss the state of roads in the division.

Aside roads, Hon. Agunbiade also stated that he also raised the issue of stadium which the last administration promised to build in the division and the controversies surrounding the relocation of the Owutu market among others.

The lawmaker, who stated that he is part of the government, also appealed to Ikorodu people to give their maximum support to the current government and shun acts capable of causing confusion and tension.

The release, titled, ‘Re – Condition Of Our Roads’, states that:

“Earlier, at different times, I issued two public statements in respect of the unpleasant conditions of some roads in Ikorodu division. I had thought that I will need to make no further statement until the roads are fixed.

“Alas, some very few individuals and one or two groups, who must have read my statements on social media, for reasons best known to them, while still calling on me to intervene in spite of my explicit explanation of ongoing efforts, have also been painting a picture of lacklustre on the matter.

“As a representative in the legislature, I have written letters and interacted with the agency saddled with road maintenance in the state, sequel to which I made the first public statement mentioning roads that are in focus for repairs.

“Still observing due deligence, I moved beyond letters and interaction with the agency to paying personal working visit to the Deputy Governor, who is also in charge of Works and Infrastructures ministry in the state, to discuss the peculiarity of the state of road infrastructures in Ikorodu Division.

“At the meeting, we discussed in particular, the state of Isawo/Arepo roads, as well as the Igbogbo/ Ijede road. We discussed Igbe road as well as Oba Sekumade road. We hammered on the need to do a quick palliative on Itamaga/Ijede road and the need for side drains on Gbodu/ Agura road. Suberu Ogunsanya road was thrown up for discussion and so was Adeniran Ogunsanya road leading to Sabo market.

“I took the opportunity of the rapt attention of the amiable Deputy Governor to discuss the stadium project promised by the immediate past Governor and the lingering issue of the relocation of Owutu market in the face of the recent court settlement between the contending family and the Government of Lagos State on the proposed site for the market project.

“The Deputy Governor was clearly opened to me on the position of the current administration to aggressively tackle the issue of infrastructure across the state with particular attention to our plight in Ikorodu Division.

“To the extent of my conviction on the Deputy Governor’s presentations and the associated passion, I emerged from the meeting pleading with our people in Ikorodu Division to help the current administration with prayers for accomplishment and for our people to exercise a little more patience to get our complaints transformed to commendation.

“To God be the glory, barely two weeks after my visit and release of public statement, the pragmatic Governor Babajide Sanwoolu declared his Government emergency approach on bad roads in the state.

“As a representative in tge parliament, I have presented the yearnings of my people to the Executive which has demonstrated listening attitude as some of our bad roads will soon be attended to in the current emergency approach.

“I appreciate all other genuinely concerned personalities who also worked on the path of the aspiration to get our roads motorable.

“I am part of this government and I believe in its approach to take Lagos State to a greater height.

“Let’s please continue to demonstrate our love and support for the Sanwoolu Government in the interest of our overall well bieng.

“I humbly urge us all to avoid all forms of umbrage and oppose all attempts at creating confusion as we believe in God and humanity that our desires concerning our roads and other infrastructures will soon be fulfilled”.
