9th Legislative Session: Ikorodu Reps Pledge Better Legislative Services

The representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, the Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly and the representative of Ikorodu Constituency I, Hon. Sanai Oyeniran Agunbiade and the representative of Ikorodu Constituency Ii at the State Assembly, Hon. Nurudeen Saka Solaja, have pledged their commitments to greater services and quality representations to the constituents in Ikorodu division.

These assurances were contained in their respective speeches after their inauguration as members of the 9th Legislative Sessions both at the state and federal level.

While the duo of Hon. Agunbiade and Hon. Solaja were inaugurated along with 38 other lawmakers across the state on June 7, Hon. Benson took oath of office for the second term on Tuesday, June 11, 2019.

In a release titled, “Marching Forth For Better Service To Ikorodu Federal Constituency”, Hon. Benson  thanked the electorate for renewing his mandate and also pledged to strive to build institutions that will bring development to the Ikorodu Federal Constituencies.

 “I will always be grateful for the mandate you reposed in me and I thank you all for the congratulatory messages, words of encouragement and the acknowledgement that we can do more.

 “With this renewed mandate, I shall strive with your unflinching support to put in place thorough legislation institutions that will bring about development to Ikorodu division, specifically, I will look into mobilizing efforts to ensure that our five Local Council Development Areas get recognized as full-fledged Local Government Areas.

He also assured his constituents that he will be sponsoring bills that would empower youths and make food available to the vulnerable.

 “I will also be putting forward a bill to encourage startup business amongst the youths , legislation on the creation of food banks across the country, and drive oversights to ensure that the lighter terminal at Ebute is further utilized to its full capacity with accompanying infrastructure”.

On infrastructure, the two term lawmaker stated that he will leverage on his connections, both at the federal and state levels, to ensure infrastructural renewal in Ikorodu federal constituency.

“The need for infrastructure development and renewal in our division cannot be over emphasized and I shall leverage on Federal and State structures to see this through”.

He then solicited for the support of all and sundry in this current dispensation so that he could bring more democratic dividends to them.

“The foregoing can only be achieved with your continuous support, advice and critique.

 “I thank you so much for your prayers, and the opportunity to serve. I pray that we shall all find good reasons to celebrate in good health, promotion and prosperity,(Amen)”.

In his own release, Hon. Agunbiade, who was full of prayers and appreciations to God, his party leadership and the generality of Ikorodu people,  reiterated his commitment to providing better services to the people of his constituency.

“My appreciations to my party for providing me with the platform that afforded me the opportunities that have crystallized to the current status. May the good Lord continue to bless and prosper the National, State and divisional leaders of the party. May it pleases God to strengthen the party (APC) more.

He also sought for the forgiveness and cooperation of the people of Ikorodu in other to move the entire Ikorodu division forward.

“ Let me declare here that for the grace of God that I have enjoyed, I bear no one no grudge for all that happened before, during and after the elections.I also ask for forgiveness in anyway I might have offended anyone. We can only move Ikorodu forward with genuine love”.

On his fourth term mandate, Hon. Agunbiade reiterated his commitment to quality representation.

“With this new mandate, I reiterate my commitment to more services to my constituents who have entrusted this trust in me with their massive votes”.

The lawmaker called for more engagement with the youths in the constituency while also pledging to do more in combating security challenges in Ikorodu.

“Let the youths open up and allow us to engage more frequently to achieve more.

 “On our current security challenges, I wish to assure you that a lot that are needed but which are not to be put in print are being done to restore peace. As I always say, security strategies are not for public debate nor consumption.

“To all those that have expressed solidarity with me in all the different forms adopted, I appreciate. God will stand by all of you and yours”.

In a phone conversation with Hon. Solaja, he stated that his second term will be used in serving and bringing more democratic dividends and also consolidate on the achievements recoded in the first term.

The lawmaker stated that he will provide more empowerment for the youths , women and other members of his constituency.

He also said that he will, in conjunction with other lawmakers, ensure that good legislations are made while the those ones that need review among the old ones are attended to.

Hon.  Solaja also stated that he will work closely with the representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency and that of the Ikorodu Constituency I in bringing more developments to Ikorodu division .
