Adijat’s Killing Can Never Be Swept Under The Carpet – Representative of Ayangbure of Ikorodu

Otunba Ayodele Elesho,  the former Commissioner of Information, Lagos State and the Agbaakin of Ikorodu Kingdom, led other representatives of the Ayangbure of Ikorodu to pay a condolence visit to the mother of Adijat who was killed by police stray bullet at Adamo. Our reporter had a brief interview session with him after a parley between the family of the deceased, Deputy Commissioner of Police, SCIID, Hon. Agunbiade, Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Ikorodu Chapter, and stakeholders in Akaun community.

MPACT: Sir, can you please introduce yourself?

Otunba Elesho: I am Otunba Ayodele Elesho.

IMPACT: As the representative of the Ayangbure at this condolence visit and parley between the Deputy Commissioner of Police, other stakeholders and family of the slain girl, what is your assessment of the situation so far?

Otunba Elesho: Kabiyesi has mandated me to come and show his concern and sympathy to the family. It’s most unfortunate we lost such a young girl in that circumstance, Police are supposed to be our friends but it is most unfortunate that some of them behave unprofessionally. The way the junior rank officers act does not show that they are our friends but we thank God that the Lagos State Police Command has taken up the matter and we are demanding justice for the family, community and the victim.

IMPACT: From your assessment of the meeting with the police high command today, do you believe the bereaved family, community and the victim will get justice?

Otunba Elesho: Of course. The Commissioner of Police has mandated his deputy, who is in-charge of SCIID, Panti, to come and convey his sympathy which shows that the matter can never be swept under the carpet. We are going to get justice.
