The Action Democratic party (ADP) Gubernatorial candidate , Mr Babatunde Olalere Gbadmosi, has stated that he is “tired and fed up of complaining” to Nigerian people about the electoral system in the country.

The Estate developer turned politician made this lamentation at his polling unit 014 (Isele 2) in Ward B in Ikorodu, where INEC officials arrived late.

As at 10.32 when the governorship candidate arrived at the polling unit, election was yet to commenced as he had to returned to his house after granting interview to the media.

He described the electoral system as ineffective.

“The inefficiency in the system is self-evident. We can say a lot but the system is as good as those operating it.

“I am just tired and fed up of complaining. I have always said that people deserve the kind of leaders that they get and Nigerians have proved time and time and again that this is the kind of leaders that they want. So, what can I do? I am only one man”, Gbadamosi lamented.

He condemned the inability of the electoral body to deploy technologies in organizing the election .

“The time now is almost 11am and the process is yet to start, it’s sad that inspite of all the technologies around us; inspite of our ability to produce ATM that we use in our banks; ability to transfer money on our phones, we don’t seem to get our heads around a simple process as electioneering.

“I’m just sad for Nigeria that this is where we are in 21st century. We cannot collate election results and tabulate and announce results despite all the technologies. Card and finger print machines malfunctioning. I believe that technology has moved on from where we are despite that it is so much cheaper.

“When you hear the amount that they expended in the process, you will begin to wonder what is wrong with us. I’m just tired. I have done my best by putting myself out to contest for the governor of Lagos State. If economy of Lagos is not functioning, Nigeria will suffer.”

He called on INEC and security agencies to ensure peaceful election.

“We sincerely hope that the election process will go peacefully and that INEC will live up to its responsibilities, so also the security agencies.

“We saw what happened in the last election and we hope that there will not be repeat of that.

“All I can do is to ask all Nigerians, especially Lagosians, to go and cast their votes peaceful. Every election is an opportunity to change your situation by choosing one of the people that you have been listening to in the last three months and who you hope will deliver on his or her promises and today is that day. “
