Oriwu College, Ikorodu Dominates Ikorodu Resources Group’s 2018 Academic Awards

Oriwu College, Ikorodu (now Oriwu Model College, Ikorodu), a premier school in Ikorodu, was the cynosure of all eyes as the school dominated the academic awards at the 18th Memorial Lecture of Professor A.A. Adegbola,the late former Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) and an illustrious son of Ikorodu.

 

The lecture, which is being  organized annually by the Ikorodu Division Resource Development Group (IDRDG), was held at the Ikorodu Town Hall on Saturday, November 10, 2018.

 

Oriwu Model College, Ikorodu, was recognized in two categories.

 

Alhaja Rabiat Folashade Alimi, the Principal, Oriwu Junior Model College, Ikorodu, was conferred with the Ikorodu Division Resource Development Group (IDRDG) Merit Award for emerging as the Best Principal in Ikorodu Division and Education District II in 2017.

 

Also honoured from the premier school was Miss Asafa Wuraola Fatimah who emerged as the Best Student in West Africa Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in 2018.

Alhaja Rabiat Folashade Alimi, the Principal, Oriwu Junior Model College, Ikorodu, receiving the IDRDG Merit Award conferred on her as the Best Principal in Ikorodu Division and Education District II in 2017 from the representative od the Deputy governor of Lagos State

Fatimah, with Examination No. 4251201096, scored six As, one B2 and two B3. Details of her result below:

 

English Language B2, Mathematics A1, Biology A1, Civic Education A1, Agricultural Science A1, Physics A1, Chemistry B3, Economics A1 and Fisheries B3.

 

Another student of the school from the Senior Model College, Sorunke Dorcas Boluwatife with Examination No. 4251201203, scored five As, two B2 and one B3 to record second best overall WASSCE results in Ikorodu Division, while Tovishede Ebenezer Abayomi, a student of United High School, Ikorodu, emerged third best student with five As and four B3.

 

Fatimah,like her school, was the cynosure of all eyes at the august occasion as she was celebrated and showered with encomiums beyond her expectations , a situation which made her to shed tears of joy.

Also honoured at the event was the Lagos State Civil Service Senior Model College, Igbogbo, which emerged as the Best School in Ikorodu division and District II in 2017 and consequently dominated the 2017 edition of the academics awards.

 

The school has also won the Governor’s Education Award on three occasions as well as Spelling Bee Competition past winner.
