Hon. Benson Commissions Block of Classrooms In Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA

Hon. Babajimi Benson, member of the Federal House of Representatives representing the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, has commissioned a Block of Three Classrooms at Ibelefun Primary School, Owode in Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA).

 

The commissioning took place on Friday, November 09, 2018..

 

Asipa Kaoli Olusanya, the Vice Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC), Lagos East and Chairman of the occasion, in his remarks, thanked Hon. Benson for making the people of Owode and Ibeshe communities benefitted from his quality representation.

 

The former Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture and Cooperatives and the Chief Learning Officer of Kith and Kin Educational Schools, stated that the structure would make learning easy and convenient for the students and teachers of the school.

 

While referring to a product of the school, one Master Onyema Peter, whom he said he discovered about 7 years ago when he recorded 100% in Mathematics examination, Asipa Olusanya stated that the Peter has been excellent in his academic performance ever since then.

 

He added that conducive academic environment would create more of Master Onyema Peter who is a product of the school and also teaching in the school.

 

“Master Onyema Peter is a product of this school and resident of Ibeshe. We are glad to have a brilliant young man like him because it is a very great thing for a community to bring out such an intelligent scholar and Kith and Kin will be sponsoring his University education up to any level. He has 9 Distinctions in WASSCE and Kith and Kin is sponsoring his University education”, the former Commissioner stated.

Asipa Kaoli added, “I am happy to inform you today that this boy has been given admission to study Medicine and Surgery at the University of Lagos (UNILAG). I am making reference to him to encourage other students to emulate him”.

 

Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, in his own remarks, commended Hon. Benson for his quality representation.

 

The former Secretary to the Lagos State Government stated that the school which was established about 36 years ago was his initiative.

 

“Though, I was not the Commissioner for Education then, but as the Secretary to the Government at that time, I can proudly say that this school was my initiative. The same way we did at Bayeku and other places.

 

“As our representative, it is your duty to look around and find out about the needs of your people so as to call the government’s attention to such. Our people are saying that we do not have adequate classrooms. In some schools, there are about 100 students in a classroom instead of 45.

 

“When we started this school then, it was due to the need of the community. We called it functional classrooms.

He called on the people of the community to take ownership of the school by erecting fence round it to prevent encroachment and also urged them to also provide another land for government to establish another school in the community.

 

Asiwaju Bashorun also challenged the pupils of the school to face their studies so as to attain the status of Hon. Benson and other eminent persons.

 

Hon. Babajimi Benson, while speaking at the commissioning, stated that the block classrooms were constructed to create conductive environment that would enhance learning/teaching activities for teachers and pupils of the school.

 

He also said that, “The classrooms have been commissioned since March but we are only commissioning it today because my leaders, party people and the community said that they must be commissioned properly.

 

More so, Hon. Benson stated that seven of such structures have been constructed and commissioned in the last 3 years of his tenure as the representative of the Ikorodu division people.

 

“We have constructed seven blocks of classrooms in various schools across the division.

“We would have commissioned this project last Friday, but for the presentation of the bill on the floor of the House in Abuja which I co-sponsored. The bill bothers on the removal of age barriers for our young people in seeking employment into federal government service”, he stated.

 

Hon. Benson stated that teachers are playing great roles in community building because,according to him, they are the ones responsible for the establishment of foundation knowledge of students.

 

In his royal remarks, Oba Semiudeen Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, commended the federal lawmaker for being a good representative and role model for the young ones.

 

The royal farther, who also stated that Hon. Benson has contributed immensely to the development of the council and the division at large, enjoined him to continue his good works.

 

Mrs. Kolawole L.O., Head Teacher of Ibelefun Primary School, Owode, thanked Hon. Benson for making learning easy for the teachers and pupils of the school through his gesture.
