The Council of Baales in Ikorodu division has endorsed the aspiration of the Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon Sanai Oyeniran Bolanle Agunbiade,  to run for another term as the lawmaker representing Ikorodu constituency 1 at the Lagos State House of Assembly.

According to a release by Hon.  Agunbiade’s media team, the Baales, numbering about sixty from different communities in Ikorodu division, made the declaration at a meeting held with the lawmaker in Ikorodu on Monday, August 27, 2018.

They were led by the Chairman, Ikorodu Council of Baales, Chief M.J Odusoga, Baale Omitoro, Chief Noah Adekunle Jaiyesimi, Baale Maya Jaiyesimi, the Secretary of the Council and Chief Talabi Kuti, Baale of Okeolokun, the Public Relations Officer (PRO)of the Council.

The Baales said their decision to support the lawmaker’s ambition was hinged on his numerous achievements and outstanding performance since assuming office.

Among many other achievements, the Baales specifically commended Hon Agunbiade for sponsoring a Bill against landgrabbing, which according to them, put an end to the menace of land grabbers in Ikorodu and Lagos state.

They explained that before the Bill was sponsored by the lawmaker, land grabbers had wreaked havoc on their respective communities and almost made them ungovernable for them.

They, therefore, appreciated him for his swift intervention through the Bill which they said put an end to the activities of land grabbers.

However, the Baales charged Hon Agunbiade to work on how he would clinch his party’s ticket at the primaries while assuring him of their readiness to mobilise their subjects and various community members to support and vote for him for another term in the 2019 general elections.

Meanwhile, in his brief remarks,Hon. Agunbiade gave a brief account of his activities since assuming office as the Majority Leader of the House.

He informed the Baale that his position as the Majority Leader of the Lagos House of Assembly has further enhanced his strive to effectively represent the yearnings and aspirations of the people of Ikorodu Constituency 1 and Ikorodu division at large.

Agunbiade said this wouldn’t have been possible if he was not a Principal Officer and that is why he is seeking to return to the House to attract more dividends of democracy to Ikorodu division so that the division would not be left out in the massive development going on in the state under the Ambode-led government.

At the end of the meeting, the Baales raised Agunbiade’s hands in confirmation of their endorsement while also pledging their full support to his ambition which, according to them, would bring more development to Ikorodu division and afford it to maintain its rightful place in the political leadership of Lagos state.
