The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikorodu Local Government, Alhaji Taiwo Longe, has asked electorate in the council to take advantage of the opening of three new Continuous Verification Registration centres (CVR) to register for the Permanent Voters’ Card (PVC).

He also reaffirmed the decision of the national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and that of the State Chapter of the party, that the primary elections for the selection of the party’s candidates in the council shall be through direct ballot system.

Longe stated these during the August  general meeting of the party at the LGA Secretariat of the party at Adeniran Ogunsanya House, along Awolowo road, Ikorodu, on Thursday, 16 August, 2018.

The meeting was attended by hundreds of the party’s chieftains and members.

Speaking at the meeting, Alhaji Longe stated that any member who is yet to register and get his PVC is not doing the party any good.

“Any member who is yet to register with INEC for Permanent Voters Card (PVC) is not doing the party any favour.

“Now  that INEC has extended the registration till end of the month, I enjoin our members to go and register for their PVCs.

“We had a meeting with the INEC officials in Ikorodu and they’ve agreed to open three centres at the Ikorodu Town hall, Anglican Primary School at Sheriff area of Ikorodu and at Methodist Primary School, Agura”, Alhaji Longe stated.

The party chairman also appealed to members to shun any form of violence and sustain the unity within the party.

He also reaffirmed the decision of the party’s national leader that primary elections in Lagos APC shall be a direct balloting system.

“Primary elections in Ikorodu shall be a direct one as directed by our  national party leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, at a stakeholder meeting held earlier this week at the  party’s State Secretariat.

“Those of you who have not registered as party members should also take advantage of the ongoing registration to do so and be a bonafide member of our party.

“With the adoption of a direct primary, every member would now have a say in who emerge as the party’s candidates. But you can only do that as a card carrying member.

Comrade Kehinde Olushola Okeowo, the Publicity Secretary, APC Ikorodu LGA, specifically asked women present at the meeting to ensure that they contribute positively to the party in the buildup to the 2019 elections.

She also urged them to register enmasse for the party’s membership and INEC Permanent Voters’ Card (PVC).
