It was cheering news on Saturday, when Member, Federal House of Representatives, representing the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Hon. Babajimi Benson, announced on his social platforms that the flag-off of the rehabilitation of the Ikorodu-Shagamu road will hold on Monday, May 21, 2018.

The lawmaker also announced that the construction giant, Arab Contractors which moved its equipment away from site about a month ago is back on site and ready to commence rehabilitation works.

Hon. Benson, wrote on his social media platforms: “The official flag-Off of the Ikorodu-Sagamu road has been scheduled for Monday, May 21st, 2018, by 10am”

“Arab Contractor is also back to site” he added

“This is indeed good news. On behalf of the good people of Ikorodu Federal Constituency, I welcome the Federal Government’s delegation to the flag off and look forward to a speedy rehabilitation of the road”

He also used the opportunity to identify with Muslim faithful that are observing the Ramadan: “Warm regards to our fasting brothers and sisters. May God accept our good intentions. Amen”

The initial official ceremony to kick- start the commencement of the road rehabilitation scheduled to hold on Thursday, April 1, 2018, was put-off without any reason.

The development caused disappointment for the people who have been expecting the rehabilitation work to commence in earnest since the news about the federal government’s approval for the road’s rehabilitation was broke.

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) had on Wednesday, March 29, 2018, approved over N20 billion for the rehabilitation of Ikorodu-Sagamu expressway.
