Assembly Cautions LASG On Financing Visionscape With State Funds, Summons Three Commissioners

-Visionscape To Gulp N714m Monthly For 10 Years
-No Cause For Alarm, Says Visionscape

Rt. Hon. Mudasiru Obasa, Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly

The Lagos State of Assembly has expressed dissatisfaction over the activities of Visionscape Sanitations Solutions limited introduced by the state government. The Guardian reports

At a plenary session yesterday, the assembly disclosed that they were not carried along when the company was being engaged, which was wrong, adding that the government should immediately stop using state money to finance Visionscape until investigations were concluded. The company presently gets NGN713, 700,000 monthly since last year and this agreement terminates in June 2027.

The House therefore summoned Justice and Attorney General, Adeniji Kazeem, Finance commissioner, Akinyemi Ashade, commissioner for Environment, Babatunde Durosinmi-Etti and the Accountant-General, Abimbola Umar as well as their respective Permanent Secretaries, then constituted an eight-man Ad-Hoc Committee to which the Commissioners and Accountant-General are to report to.

The resolution followed a motion moved Under Matters of Urgent Public Importance by Hon. Olanrewaju Ogunyemi who disclosed that refuse has taken over Lagos, noting that there is the need to avert serious epidemic in the state.

Reacting, Visionscape rep, Dipo Wintoki, said there is no cause for alarm over the resolution of the House, as the latter was performing its statutory function and they are not worried as they have a valid contract from the government.

Chief Operating officer of the firm, Thomas Forgacs said they will be increasing their truck fleet from 131 to 200 before the end of April to boost refuse disposal and will start door to door refuse collection with the recent engagement of 100 PSP operators, which have started work in Agege.

The Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Olumuyiwa Jimoh revealed that there were comments on social media condemning the amount of money Visionscape was being paid by the state Government, adding that such money was not appropriated in the budget neither were they carried along.
